New strategy and stupid injuries

    Greetings people of the Internet! A lot has changed since my last post! I currently have a B- in Chemistry and a B+ in math, WOOT WOOT! And for some odd reason my legs are turning against me. Back in early September it was my calves, last week my right hip was giving me troubles, and now today my right quadricep was really tight...only when I tried to run. This was very suckey, and although I am usually someone who loves an excuse not to work out, I dragged myself onto the exercise bike and rode for twenty minutes.
    Tonight at my Exploring Exercise Science Class we had a guest speaker who is a strength and conditioning coach here at Iowa and also a sports nutritionist. And boy did I learn a lot!!! She told us that it is NOT about calorie counting. Rather, healthy eating is about fueling and refueling our bodies often throughout the day. She did not recommend a specific number of meals one should have throughout the day, but I got the sense that she would not approve of my two meals a day.  So...I will be making some changes in the near future. She also stressed getting enough protein in your diet, protein is needed at every meal. One benefit to eating more protein is it keeps you fuller for longer, which would help me out a lot!
   Lastly, she stressed getting enough sleep at night. She recommends at least 8 hours...I really need to work on this. I usually go to bed between 9:45 and 10. But, I have a hard time both falling asleep and staying asleep. Sometimes I just can't sleep, and other nights it is other people and their annoyingness that gets in the way of my sleep. Tonight I shall be in bed by 9:30, unless other people do not cooperate. I am really not a people person, nor will i ever be. Sorry, but that's jus the way I rule.
